2018 PROPERTY TAX RATE SET FOR PEMBROKE – $3.52 DECREASE OVER 2017

PEMBROKE, NH – The Department of Revenue Administration last week finalized the 2018 property tax rate for Pembroke, with a total decrease in the tax rate of $3.52 from $29.76 to $26.24 per thousand dollars of assessed value.

The property tax rate is calculated in October of each year by the Department of Revenue Administration and consists of four components – school, town, county and the statewide property tax for education.  The local school portion of the tax rate decreased by $3.35 from $17.81 to $14.46 per thousand, while the town decreased by 18 cents from $6.93 to $6.75 per thousand.  The county rate decreased by six cents from $2.86 to $2.80 per thousand, while the state education rate increased by seven cents from $2.16 to $2.23 per thousand.

According to Pembroke School Board Chairman Dan Driscoll, the significant decrease in the local school portion of the tax rate resulted in large part from a freezing spend last fall that enabled the school district to return $1.3 million to offset taxes for this fiscal year.
